The Department of Farm Animal Production and Health at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka College of Veterinary Surgeons, hosted the Equine Sports Medicine and Surgery workshop. The workshop featured esteemed resource persons, including Dr. Felpie Correa (Equine Surgeon, Estonia), Dr. Jane Oops (Equine Anesthetist, Estonia), Dr. Neil Horadagoda (Equine Pathologist, Australia), Dr. Harsha Ariyarathna (Senior Lecturer, Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, Sri Lanka), and Dr. Iresha Wickramasinghe (Clinical Pathologist, Australia). The lectures were delivered online from December 2023 to January 2024, while the hands-on practical sessions were conducted at the faculty from January 29 to February 3, 2024. Twenty veterinarians participated in the program, which prompted the faculty to expedite essential repairs and upgrades to the equine facility at the Farm Animal Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The event concluded with a certificate awarding ceremony for both the participants and the resource persons.
